Zac’s Club Riccall opened in September 2017, and gathered pace rapidly from day 1. We extended our service early on from 3 afternoons a week to now offering full sessions Monday to Friday, breakfast runs from 7.30-9.00am every morning, and After School Club from 3.15-6.15pm each afternoon (During the Coronavirus outbreak our afternoon session times are slightly revised to 3.00 – 6.00pm each afternoon in order to allow for the school staggered pick up times). We also open for Holiday Club on selected days during the holidays from 8.00am until 6.00pm.
The team at Riccall is headed up by Manager Erika Kirsch-Maskill. Erika joined us as a Playworker initially shortly after our Riccall setting opened in 2017. Since then she has completed both her Level 3 and Level 5 childcare qualifications, whilst working with us, and has been promoted to Deputy, then Manager.
Assisting Erika are Deputy Manager Lauren Moughan, and Playworkers Tiff Lumley and Sharon Plumridge, and Apprentices Stacey Rowbottom and Angel Costello. Most of our team work across both of our settings, and full details of our staff accomplishments and qualifications are on the ‘Meet the Team’ page.
All of our staff have been trained in Safeguarding, Prevent, Food Safety, and Paediatric First Aid to level 2 which is renewed every 3 years. Additional training and measures have been taken in response to the Covid 19 outbreak, and the risk assessment accessed through this page is regularly updated to reflect the latest government guidelines.
Zac’s Club Riccall had their first Ofsted inspection in June 2019, and were rated ‘Good’. This was a great achievement, and the team were particularly praised for their support of the Early Years Curriculum in following on from learning in school into the activities in the setting. Following the Coronavirus outbreak and 2 periods of lockdown of schools, and unfortunately the temporary closure of our Club at Riccall we successfully returned to school on Monday 8th March 2021 putting in additional measures to ensure that the Club remained as safe as possible were implemented. We are keeping up to date with all of the latest government, local authority and school guidance and procedures, and our risk assessment can be viewed in full from the link on this page. We continue to make regular adjustments and updates to this document and our practice as necessary and appropriate. From September 2021, we anticipate only minimal Covid restrictions, however will continue to make our Risk Assessment available to view on our website as we update it.
