Before Zac’s Club was established in 2017, our Breakfast & After School Club at Escrick was our very first Young Discoverers setting, and opened on 4th November 2008 with just 4 children, 2 of whom were the Director’s own children. It has been fabulous to see the Club grow from there to having up to 38 children on their busiest sessions.
Our relationship with the school has also developed over this time, and we are extremely proud to be working in partnership to ensure that the facility meets the needs of parents, teachers, governors, and most importantly the children themselves.
Andrew is Manager at the Club, and has undertaken this role since 2012. He holds a Level 3 Diploma from the Children and Young People’s Workforce, which he undertook whilst working for Young Discoverers Nursery. The Club changed to Zac’s Club in September 2018, and we had our first Ofsted Inspection under this name on 3rd December 2019, and received a rating of ‘Met’ – the highest grade achievable under the new marking grades for Out of School Clubs introduced on 1st September 2019. The report praises the setting for its links with school, and can be accessed in full here: https://reports.ofsted.gov.uk/provider/16/EY551783
Andrew works with Lauren as his Deputy Manager, Playworkers Lotty, Elizabeth, Rebecca, and Level 3 Apprentice Angel. Many of staff team work across the two settings, and full details of their accomplishments and qualifications can be found on the ‘Meet the Team’ page of the website.
All staff hold current Paediatric First Aid Certificates, and Food Safety Certificates, and also undertake other regular trainings relevant to the role including the Safeguarding of Children and Prevent Training. Additional training and measures have also been provided in respect of Covid 19, and the risk assessment accessed on this page is regularly updated to reflect our changing response to the latest measures in place at all times during the pandemic.
The setting operates 7.30am -9.00am each morning and 3.00pm -6.00pm each afternoon during term time. Our afternoon session times have slightly changed to allow for the staggered finish times at school and for additional cleaning and sanitizing measures. School term dates are available by using the following link: http://www.escrickprimaryschool.co.uk/term-dates/ The school website also contains lots of useful information regarding the teaching and learning at Escrick School. Bookings for Zac’s Club can be made by phoning the Club on 07721 062404, emailing ruth@zacsclub.co.uk or by using the online booking system, which can be accessed through the link on this page.
Following the Coronavirus outbreak, we safely returned at Zac’s Club on the 8th September, and were fully operational between then and Christmas 2020. A further lockdown in January 2021 saw us providing a service just to Keyworker and Vulnerable children, however have been fully open to all children since 8th March 2021. Zac’s Club continues to keep up to date with the latest government, local authority and school guidance to ensure our operations are as safe as they possibly can be. Following the latest government guidance we no longer have any Covid restrictions, we do still follow all of the government guidelines in respect of Covid precautions. Zac’s Club still request that parents do not send their children to club if they are unwell, and adhere to our sickness policy which is updated regularly and can be emailed on request.
